Hispanic teenagers hold the number 2 spot in teen pregnancy. 131 out of 1,000 Latina teens will become mothers whereas 48 out of 1,000 white teens will become pregnant.

Immigrant Latino parents are less likely to talk about sex with their children. They skip over the Birds & the Bees only to find out their teenage daughter has given birth or has been arrested for dumping a newborn in a trash bin.

Here is a huge failure in communication. Who's addressing the issue? Not the parents, relatives or friends. The school fails in this regard by turning the other cheek when it comes to teenagers having sex thus robbing them of another outlet for them to become inform about their choices. They don't have to become teenage moms and they do not have to throw a baby in the trash.

Let's empower our girls with knowledge. That's what celebrating 15 should be about. Being informed. Making the right choices. Not having to hide a pregnancy for 9 months.
